Needless to say, these are extraordinary times. The Users’ Executive Committee is in constant communication with ALS management as we all navigate through the rapid changes. Please refer to the messages from ALS management for status updates. For now, we are still planning the 2020 ALS User Meeting to take place August 25–27 on site at Berkeley Lab. We realize these plans may need to change and are already exploring alternatives. We are in frequent discussions with the ALS management about the upcoming shutdown schedule, working hard to mitigate its impact on our research. At this point, many of those discussions are paused as we navigate through the pandemic crisis. Undoubtedly, these scheduling matters will have to wait until we all get some clarity. Finally, on behalf of the ALS UEC, we wish to send a message of support to you and your families. We hope you stay healthy, calm and productive. I, for one, look forward to finally analyzing some resonant scattering data I had been sitting on. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any concerns or issues. The UEC is here to help.
